Sownsmith was founded primarily for two reasons.  The first is to create clothing and jewelry that is ethically made and will not contribute to the millions of people trafficked for labour.  Consequently, all clothing, beanies and fabric are manufactured in Canada and the jewelry is made in the United States.  Each piece is thoughtfully designed with timeless simplicity and quality in mind for effortless style. The second reason Sownsmith was founded is to bring awareness and resources to the estimated 50 million of people that are being trafficked around the world.  Seven percent of Sownsmith's profits will be donated to local and international organizations that fight human trafficking. 

'Sown' means to have planted, chosen, invested, and/or stewarded, and 'smith' means expert. Sownsmith is a brand for those who are mindful and conscientious about choosing, investing and living well.
